Inheritance Tax Advantages:

Leaving a charitable legacy in your will can provide significant inheritance tax (IHT) advantages in the UK:

1. Reduced Taxable Estate: Gifts to UK-registered charities are exempt from inheritance tax, which means any amount you leave to a charity is deducted from your estate’s value before IHT is calculated. This can reduce the overall IHT liability on your estate.

2. Lower Tax Rate: If you leave 10% or more of your net estate (after exemptions and reliefs) to charity, the IHT rate on the rest of your estate reduces from 40% to 36%.
