Our Successes

Our Successes

Over the years we are proud to support many causes and projects which have been seen to provide great benefits to Shaftesbury. Here are a  few examples.

Shaftesbury in Bloom

"Shaftesbury in Bloom have been successful, over a number of years and have recently achieved Gold and Silver Guilt awards in both regional and national Britain in Bloom competitions.

This continued success has been greatly assisted by the continued financial support from the Shaftesbury charitable trust.

We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to them for their continued support and encouragement to ensure we keep Shaftesbury a beautiful place for those who live here, work here and visit the area.

Thank you from Shaftesbury in Bloom."

Shaftesbury Municipal Almshouse Charity

"I would like to thank you for your very kind donation of £5000 towards our Garden Project.

This will be a great help towards the significant works that will be taking place to create an environmentally friendly garden full of wildlife flowers, shrubs, memorial garden, beehives, bird boxes and raised beds and a summerhouse designed to be accessible to persons of limited mobility and wheelchair friendly."

Shaftesbury Abbey Museum & Gardens

Last August you generously donated £4,000 towards the conservation of a 15th century sculpture that had been hidden behind a false wall in St Peter’s Church, Shaftesbury for over 400 years since the Tudor reformation, followed by its public display in Shaftesbury Abbey Museum.

We had been informed by several experts, including from the British Museum, that the sculpture is very rare with only three other examples known in this country, and that this one, being the only one still with its medieval painting and gilding, is of regional if not national importance.

The trustees of the Abbey had tried several times since the discovery of the statue in 1977 to have it professionally conserved and displayed but had never been able to raise sufficient funding. We are therefore extremely grateful for your help; without your grant we would not have been able to appoint the top-class conservators who carried out the necessary remedial work.

You will no doubt be pleased to learn that the project has now been successfully completed and the statue will be on public display once we re-open for next season on 22 March 2025.

With our grateful thanks,
